Papa’s Pics
Julianna has been learning and absorbing since she was born. What has been cool over the last couple weeks and months is that the fruit of those lessons are more quickly seen. One example is Julianna has been good at climbing up stairs for 6 months but going down stairs is a challenge. We have been working with Julianna to go down stairs backwards which you will see in one of the pictures. Still timid but Julianna is getting the hang of sitting down, scooting to the edge, and going down backwards. And electronics still fascinate her, phones, tablets, TV's, cable boxes, and phones, she loves to push buttons and bang on keys. One thing we noticed this week that was interesting is that if given the chance with a laptop keyboard (locked of course) that she presses the keyboard with both hands as if to mimic how we type. Another first was after much trial and error Julianna has figured out straws. It's tough because all of her drinking apparatuses previous require tilting up in order to drink and the straw based containers require that they be down. And since I had my iphone I had a chance to capture the moment...not like the first walk or crawl but straws are the gateway from sippy cups to using real cups. Exciting times indeed.

Papa’s Pics
Julianna continues to amaze with how quickly she picks things up (relative to her age of course). She has 5-6 stuffed animals that she has learned to pick up by name. Couches...she has masterd climbing up and sitting on those with the added bonus of not bouncing off. Balance is something she is very aware of in walking, climbing and sitting. Last weekend we were able to send her down the small playground slide and she was able to keep her balance all the way down. Door handles, she knows how to turn those but surprisingly has done well not going crazy opening all doors. Julianna loves getting on her shoes and going outside. The first thing she does is pick up a couple of nuts that have fallen off the tree's (not her parents who feel nuts) and hold those while she walks up and down the sidewalk and driveway. You can see this in one of the pictures in the posting. We have taught her how to sit and go down stairs backwards which she is still mastering but is getting better at each day. She is still working on feeding herself and she has made this an important part of her growing independence. Gone are the days of sitting and feeding her by spoon so we focus on food she can eat by hand though she can feed herself with a spoon and yogurt with a little help. Julianna has an incredible amount of energy and is a very excited and happy baby...now toddler. We are excited each day to see and experience her growth and help her learn and explore.
These are some various pictures from the past couple weeks, enjoy!

Remote Control Kids
Julianna has had a long fascination with remotes. Previously we had stored it out of reach on the back of the couch but with her new ability to climb up on to the couch all by herself she can now grab and play with the remote. These pictures capture some of her interest and wonder with the remote as she tries to understand what makes it work.

Cereal Drive By
Julianna loves to have some of my cereal in the morning. When I try make her some of her own...not interested. It has to be from my bowl. So this video is from my SLR sitting on the breakfast table with Julianna doing cereal drive by's.
We have also added a 'Video' tag for easy searching and viewing of all the Video posts. Just click on the word 'Video' below the video.

Walking in the rain.
Julianna loves bath time and water in general. She had a great time at the beach and in the pool and with the recent monsoon like rains we have been receiving recently in NC our driveway has developed little puddles of water which Julianna loves to use for splashing her feet through. This 2 minute video not only captures Julianna's happy fun rain time but also is a good demonstration of Julianna's new walking abilities.

Julianna’s Giant Steps
This is a short video of Julianna walking to her papa. It was not her her first steps but she has only been doing this for a couple of days and this video does capture one of her longest trek's yet.
Julianna was in a great mood and had already done a couple of 'walks' when I stood her up, went in the other room for the camera, came back, and she was still just standing there patiently. It's hard to sometimes capture moments like these, it was great getting the chance.
