Kissin’ Cousins
Today my sister, Renee, visited Raleigh with her new baby Ava and Ava's big sister Rachel. This is the first time Ava and Julianna have met. They are about three and half weeks apart in age. Ava was born on May 16th and Julianna on June 10th. We had so much fun watching them and comparing new baby stories. How exciting to have two new babies in the family -- I know we will make so many memories together in the future!
Nana and Julianna
Nana stopped by today on her way to the beach to see her favorite granddaughter. She is looking forward to future fun in the sand with Julianna!
Papa Shaves His Beard
Last August when Eric and I decided to try for a baby Eric decided he would grow a beard. It was sort of a "project" for him that he would grow and keep the beard until the baby had arrived. Three weeks after the birth of Julianna and ten and a half months later the beard is no more. I think we can really see how much Julianna looks like Eric now!
Julianna meets Uncle Rodney and Aunt Donna
Today my brother and sister-in-law drove to Raleigh to meet the newest member of the family. I couldn't resist putting my brother to work so he fed and burped baby Julianna. Good practice for him for the future! We were so excited to get to spend some time with them and hope they'll come back again soon! Oh, and we hope you enjoyed the Mexican restaurant recommendation -- we were so jealous!!
Our Very Own Strawberry Shortcake
Today we dressed Julianna in her strawberry outfit she got from her Great Auntie Hilda. Eric and I couldn't resist putting her in this awesome sun suit and spending some time on the deck. It's nice and warm -- or should I say HOT -- outside today. She looks amazing in red -- we got some really great shots of her. As each day passes we are learning more about Julianna and she is getting to know us. We are tired but super thrilled with our new baby!
Hanging out on Grandma Annie’s Quilt
Today I wore a brand new outfit sent to me from my Grandma Annie in Houston. I looked fabulous in pink AND I was able to get some sleepy time in while relaxing on the baby quilt handmade by Grandma Annie.
Hard to say Good-bye to Grandma
Grandma Callicutt has been visiting us for the last week and we had so much fun! Grandma kept me while mommy got some much needed sleep! We went on my first field trip to Target and to pick up copies of my birth certificate. We made a celebration cake, grandma vacuumed our floors and helped with laundry. It was such a fantastic week! My favorite thing to do with grandma so far is to lay on her shoulder. Check me out -- I'm really gonna miss this!
See you soon Grandma!
Cake Celebration
Today Grandma Callicutt and I baked a "Birthday Cake" to celebrate the arrival of Julianna. We baked my famous "Mile-high Lemon Layer Cake." The cake baking was supposed to be my early labor project; something to keep me busy during early contractions but since I was induced instead the cake had to wait until we got back home and were settled in with Julianna. The cake looks and tastes fantastic!
Julianna meets Boppy
Today we put Julianna in her boppy pillow for the first time. The pillow allows her some independence to "sit" on her on while helping to strengthen her neck muscles. She was pretty happy and content in the pillow we added her wrist finders so that she would have something else to focus on. She is still a little young to find them but we had fun watching her try.
Here are some pics from the boppy with Grandma Callicutt:
Happy Father’s Day Papa!
Today is Father's Day. Eric's very first. As our delivery date came and went I was beginning to think Julianna would not be born even before Father's Day. Thankfully she is one week old today and we were able to present papa with his very first Father's Day gift and card. Julianna got papa a Beco Baby Carrier -- something he has been talking about wanting for some time now. Once Julianna is a little older papa can enjoy walking around with her in the carrier and showing off his beautiful daughter.
